Whether you have an urban apartment or a small house, these modern Christmas decorations will fit right in. They’re also easy to set up, easy to store, and will look great on display year after year. We specialize in small space interior design and decided to bring you our favorite holiday decor ideas for any size home.
Pick the Perfect Pencil Tree
While many of us dream of that picture perfect Christmas tree we see in a magazine spread (you know the one) most of us do not have the space to accommodate such a statement piece. The width at the base of a tree is typically what will hold you back from being able to walk around your living room with out bumping into ornaments. Enter the Pencil Tree. What it lacks in width it could make up for in height and still creates the same beautiful holiday look. The Pencil Tree can have either a minimalist or maximalist look since you are saving on space. Another alternative if it is still a tight squeeze, try shatterproof ornaments just in case anyone brushes up a little too close.
Focus on the Mantle
Add a little greenery swag in over your fireplace instead of a Christmas tree if you are lacking in space for one. Get creative with your display and don’t hold back just because you are in a small space. If you are lucky enough to have a working fireplace or even just a mantle in your tiny home. make the most of it. Using live greenery means you won’t need to store anything after the season is over. Create a mix branches, pine garland, and/or dried florals and combine with candlelight for a warm holiday glow.
Save Space with a Skinny Tree
Similar to the Pencil Tree , the Skinny Tree is tall and even more slender and minimal. Our faux version may not exist out in the forest exactly as you see it, but it’s far from a holiday faux pas. The width of a Pencil Tree is typically half that of a full size sized tree and the Skinny Tree is, well, even skinnier. And depending on how much storage you have for the off season, ornaments are optional! We recommend going with a prelit tree for even easier packing.
Hang a Garland Statement Swag
When we don’t have a lot of space to in our home, the answer might be where there is more space…on the ceiling! Create a cool statement piece over your dining table, console table, buffet, or home bar and your certain to impress your guests. Similar to the mantle swag, utilize real or faux pine garlands depending on your storage capacities. Add a little clip-on battery operated taper candle for a special holiday ambiance.
Create a Modern LED Tree Forest
We are about to get even skinnier with the modern and minimal LED tree. A small space dwellers dream as these fold completely flat for way storage. The can easily fit in a closet, under a sofa or a bed, or tuck away in corner behind a bookcase (that’s where ours lives!). But one you open up their twig-like branches, get ready for a winter wonderland. They create a warm white glow and can fully replace the ambiance of a Christmas tree without the need for ornaments or a lot of space. They are fully adjustable so they can be customized to fit where you need them to. We are recommending a few different sizes this year to create forest of twinkle lights at any size you please. Bonus since they are more of a winter look the can be used throughout the Fall/Winter season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas.
Display your Ornaments in a Centerpiece Bowl
